Valentine’s Day Dinner Spots

I check out pretty often because it has great content and info about restaurants, sights, and events. I found this list of “Valentine’s Day Dining Specials and Discounts” ( It is quite an extensive list but it’s a great one to use to start to narrow down an affordable, but romantic restaurant.

A few other places not on the list that I’d recommend from personal experience-

Smith and Wollensky-I need to do a separate review on this restaurant soon because it’s one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. It is a delicious steakhouse, with a variety of steak types and good sides. What makes it a great restaurant and a good place for Valentine’s Day is its location in South Pointe Park along the channel leading from the Port of Miami. If you can get in for an early dinner around 5 it has an incredible view of the ocean/downtown Miami and Fisher Island, with palm trees lining the channel and boats going by in the water, and at that time the sunset is amazing. Even as it starts to get darker it still can be a nice place to have dinner on the water and with the lights of South Beach so close.

Maitardi is a restaurant in the Design District (which has some of the best restaurants in Miami, many that I still need to check out). It has a large outdoor seating area under a number of large trees, with a variety of seating such as tables and patio couches and chairs. I’ve heard the food described as Northern Italian, which I’d agree with. They have tons of small plate options that would be great to compile into a meal (tapas-style), as well as pizzas and larger plates. A previous time I’ve been there I’ve gotten the quinoa pasta (which I was excited to see on the menu) with goat cheese and mint. The food is delicious and have a variety of flavors and combined with its outdoor seating area makes it a great spot for Valentine’s Day.

Perricones- This is the place to be in Brickell on Thursday nights because of their $10 pasta special. It’s atmosphere makes it a prime Valentine’s Day spot. Seating is under large white tents or outside in a heavily-treed half-block of Brickell and the restaurant and trees are decorated with many white lights making it a great place for a romantic Valentine’s Day restaurant. The pasta and dishes are delicious, but you can’t really beat the atmosphere of the trees lit of up by hundreds of small white lights. Perricone’s does not take reservations, but even during the Thursday night pasta special they do a great job of getting people in and out quickly so the wait should be long depending on when you arrive.

15 SE 10th St Miami, FL

City Hall The Restaurant- This is a rather new restaurant that opened on Biscayne Blvd off NE 20th St. It is owned by Steve Haas, who had a large hand in the creation of Miami Spice, as well as been involved in restaurants such as the Forge and Joe’s Crab Shack. It has quickly become one of my favorites restaurants because of its rich but complementary combination of flavors (braised beef short rib stuff potato skins and turkey burger with fontina cheese and spinach are some of the things I’ve tried). I suggest it as a Valentine’s Day restaurant not only for its delicious food, but also the atmosphere. It is like an old-school NYC steakhouse and has plenty of architectural features to make it a romantic meal.

2004 Biscayne Blvd Miami, FL

Lulu in the Grove- the Grove is a great place for Valentine’s Day- the many old trees and architecture already sets it up as a romantic location. Lulu’s, which is across from Green Street (another great option to check out from what I’ve heard) and near Barnacle State Park is an intimate restaurant with a lot of flavorful, delicious food. Similar to City Hall, which has tons of diverse but complementary tastes, and Maitardi, which has tons of small plates to enjoy as well as large entrees, there are tons of options to pick from for dinner. In addition the Grove is a great place to head after your meal- perhaps to get some dessert somewhere else or gelato.
