CLOSED: Brunch at City Hall (Omni/Midtown, American Bistro)

On Sunday I continued the revival of my Portland brunch tradition (after last Sunday at Villa Mayfair) and went just across the street to City Hall the Restaurant. Already a big fan from having lunch and dinner here (review here), but I had been wanting to try their brunch out for awhile. Seems a lot of other people had the same idea because it was very busy and it felt much more Sunday brunch-like (sitting down, being served, drinks) than places that are more quick or counter-order.

We started off with mimosas and bellinis and they brought out a loaf of bread and their almond pecan butter (the actual butter kind, not peanut butter made with almonds). I couldn’t partake but one of my friends is obsessed with it from dinner devoured it. The menu has a lot of options including breakfast items, salads, and sandwiches, as well as some more dinner-like entrees. I had an omelet that came with pastrami and scallions and skillet fries on the side, plus I ordered a side of sausage. The omelet was good, but my favorites were the crispy skillet fries and peppers and the sausage. The sausage tasted really high quality and flavorful. My friend Amy got the short ribs with a fried egg over polenta. We’re both fans of short ribs and I had a bite (these short ribs were a very similar texture to brisket) and Amy said she couldn’t get enough of the creamy polenta with the gooey fried egg on top. My friend Krystyna got the tuna melt, which she really enjoyed. There were a lot of different options to pick from at City Hall for brunch and a lot of them are winners!

Took a couple more pics of the inside with the awesome architectural details, art, and atmosphere (see below).

City Hall has a big menu with many different (many a times unique) flavors (the theme of my previous visits for dinner) and it’s great place in the neighborhood to add for weekend brunch. What’s sort of a deceiving outside has a really awesome inside (both visual appearance and food). Check it out for brunch, lunch, dinner, or any time in between!
