Spring 2013 I had a conference in San Diego and made a quick stop in LA along the way. I had been to San Diego a few times with some college friends from there, but hadn’t done a lot of touristy stuff (just enjoyed the beach and ate tons of the incredible Southern California Mexican food). My stop in LA meant that I missed my team’s visits to the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park unfortunately. Those are a must on my next time to San Diego. The train ride from LA to San Diego had some awesome views though (post below). I did have a chance to go on a whale watching tour with my team and visit some restaurants, including some special gluten-free options.
Restaurants (* special gluten-free options):
- Burger Lounge (Gaslamp District and locations across Southern California)*- fast-casual burger chain with gluten-free buns
- The Mission Restaurant (Mission Beach and two other locations)*- delicious brunch spot with some Mexican specialties and gluten-free bread.
- San Diego Photo Tour– whale watching trip, downtown San Diego, and Mount Soledad Memorial Park
- Train Ride from LA to San Diego– Amtrak Surfliner
